Value Life Clinic

Water of Life: Value Life Clinic
Recent estimates (2009) place the maternal mortality rate at 461 deaths per 100,000 live births in Cambodia. As this figure is unacceptably high, …………. has been created to lower the maternal mortality rate by providing safe care for the unborn child, the delivering mother and her newborn baby through positioning professionally trained local midwifes in remote areas of Cambodia.

Our Mission:We are dedicated to train Cambodian midwifes to be a professional and trustworthy partner for expectant mothers, to protect her from the dangers of childbirth and to help her adjust to the challenges of a newborn child.

Our Vision is to make pregnancy and childbirth safe in rural Cambodia.

Clinic day 19 April 2011

Kanya (August in Khmer) has been very ill and we are still concerned for her. She was living at the wat (its like being a street person in the US) but now has moved in with her mother who is 75... she has 2 kids and is pregnant with #3 but has no husband. We fear she has something wrong with her over all health but we are unsure what it is... please keep her in your prayers.

1.9 kilos 4 pounds! Even though she was sick last week! Praise the Lord!

Little Boaz new home for now

Praise the Lord little Boaz is at his new home with new foster parents. God is good to help out in this situation. May He protect this little bundle of joy as well as the family willing to foster him in this time.

Update on Little Channy

Had a busy clinic... Sent little Channy 1.45 (3.19 pounds) kilos to the hospital today. She has congestion in her lungs and was gasping for breath. The hospital sent her back home with oral antibiotics... Twans checked her again today and she is much better. We do have another hospital to try if she does not get completely well... Please pray for her...

Srey Nite and baby Boaz

We began seeing Srey Nite in her 4th month of pregnancy. She reported that her "husband" was actually the husband of another woman and now he had left her. In her 5th month of pregnancy she got fired from her job. At that time she started asking about abortion and how to give up the baby once he was born. She was allowed to stay in the home of some friends to the end of the pregnancy.

She delivered a baby boy who seemed healthy and when he was 2 months old she went back to work. She started asking about giving him up for adoption. She went so far as to be interviewed by the Water of Life staff about the process. When we asked her about his name she said he did not have one. He was 2 months old... we named Boaz. She agreed to place him the following day and appear to the local authorities to make her desires known. The next day she had changed her mind. About 1 month later the Boaz, now 3 months old, was sickly.

He had been being baby sat by a neighbor and spending way too much time hanging in a hammock instead of being held.... Weeks passed by. The midwives and the field staff had tried and tried to come up with a solution for Boaz...Many hours were spent with this little family praying and trying to figure out what to do... Finally we took them both to a new house Water of Life girls house for observation. Srey Nite agreed to quit her job...

Boaz was not gaining weight, was not strong, was not holding his head up and so forth. We committed to a month of watching this family closely to see if she was feeding him properly and stimulating him properly. She is a good little mom but he has required some supplimental feeding in addition to breastfeeding. Srey Nite's family has disowned her because of this out of wedlock pregnancy. Nite continues to struggle with if she can keep Boaz or not.

She has spent nearly a month at Water of Life girls. TODAY Sunday April the 3rd so close to the Easter season has given her life to Jesus. Please pray for her. Please pray for us as we minister to her. Please pray for her mother's heart to be touched and allow Srey Nite and Boaz to come visit and be part of the family even through this difficult time. Srey Nite's parents and her whole family really need to know Jesus. God is so faithful. All this is not possible outside the love and prayers and gifts to Water of Life.
